A Major Step Forward: SA Crowns Indoor Netball become affiliated with SAMMNA

Another step forward for netball in South Australia, SA Crowns Indoor Netball has become affiliated with the South Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association (SAMMNA). The two committees will continue to run as their own individual committees, but will work side by side to promote Men's, Mixed and Ladies netball throughout South Australia.*

The main driver for this affiliation of SA Crowns to SAMMNA is to provide shared pathways and resources for players to compete at a state level in all forms of netball. Indoor Netball has been providing opportunities for junior boys and girls to compete at a state level for over a decade and the two associations are very complimentary in their overall purposes and aims.

Both SAMMNA and SA Crowns send teams away on a yearly basis to compete at Australia National Championship Events.

SAMMNA send Southern Dragons Teams to the Australian Men's and Mixed Netball Association National Championships in the following Grades:
Open Men's, Open Mixed, Reserve Men, Reserve Mixed, 23 and Under Men's,
20 and Under Men's and17 and Under Boys.

SA Crowns send teams to Indoor Netball Australia National Championships in the following Grades:
Under 12 Girls, Under 14 Girls, Under 16 Ladies, Under 16 Mixed, Under 21 Ladies, Under 23 Mixed, Under 21 Men, Open Men, Open Ladies, Open Mixed, Over 35 Ladies and
Over 35 Mixed.

This affiliation will allow SAMMNA and SA Crowns to pool resources to gain greater
exposure for these forms of Men’s, Mixed and Junior Netball in South Australia. It will also
provide added benefits to SA Crowns players such as better insurance, the ability to seek sponsorship and grants and the sharing of players across codes. Umpires will also benefit from easier access to training and development opportunities.

Alongside this affiliation, SAMMNA have also partnered with Indoor Sports South Australia to work together to provide greater state-wide opportunities and participation for netballers of all ages and abilities. This partnership is backed by a Memorandum of Understanding between the two state bodies which aim to better acquire and utilise the limited resources available in SA, so that we can better compete with the larger states.

If you are interested in taking your netball to the next level, now is the time to get involved. There are opportunities across all age grades and formats.
