SUPER LEAGUE 2025

Published Mon 21 Oct 2024

In 2024, we witnessed history unfold as six clubs hit the court for the first time, showcasing South Australia’s finest male athletes. The inaugural season delivered non-stop excitement, raw emotion, and unforgettable moments, with South Adelaide Netball Club crowned the first-ever champions.

But 2025 is set to raise the bar even higher! With teams returning stronger, driven by unfinished business, and an unrelenting hunger for championship glory, the competition promises to be fierce. This season also marks the introduction of a Reserves division, boosting squad depth and creating even more opportunities for athletes to shine.

Get ready for all the action to kick off on Monday, 28 October 2024, at Netball SA Stadium. Super League centre pass at 6:50pm, followed by Reserves at 8:40pm. Can’t make it to the game? No worries! Catch the Court 1 live stream via the SAMMNA Facebook page thanks to Spacequake Sports.

CONTAX NETBALL CLUB
After a disappointing SL24 campaign, finishing fifth and missing out on finals, Contax Netball Club have raised the bar for 2025, starting with the signing inaugural marquee player, Clayton Wells.

Wells, making the move from Tango Netball Club, adds experience, leadership, and creativity to the Contax attack end, having spent the last five years in the State Southern Dragons Open Men's and Mixed environment. With Wells joining forces alongside Barnden and Wood—the Super League 2024 Defensive Duo of the Year, Contax might have found the missing piece they need to break into finals for the first time and contend for the 2025 championship

Will this be the year Contax rises to the top?

GARVILLE NETBALL CLUB
A disappointing semi-final loss in 2024 saw Garville fall just short of their first Super League Grand Final appearance. However, this talented squad strikes a perfect balance between seasoned athletes and rising stars, making them serious contenders for the 2025 championship. Success will hinge on how effectively they spread the load across the court, ensuring every player contributes.

A standout to watch this season is young gun, Hay. After an impressive 2024 campaign, he earned a spot as the reserve midcourter in the All-Star 7 at the 2024 SAMMNA Awards Night. Hay’s athleticism matched with his composure throughout the midcourt will be crucial to Garville’s success in 2025, as he looks to anchor play and drive his team forward.

MATRICS NETBALL CLUB
Against all odds, Matrics showed in 2024 that they could handle whatever the season threw at them. Despite losing two key stars in Diamond and Spurr to season-ending injuries late in their campaign, their depth and resilience shone through. With Davis, Sampson and Slade stepping up, Matrics powered their way to an inspiring Grand Final appearance.

Looking ahead to 2025, these leaders will need to deliver again, backed by the versatility of experienced goalie/mid-courter, Cross and the explosive talent of rising star, O’Callaghan. If they can bring it all together, Matrics will be poised to come back stronger than ever, ready to chase redemption and glory.

OAKDALE NETBALL CLUB
Oakdale Netball Club’s 2024 season was a rollercoaster, featuring some incredible highs but also moments of inconsistency. The departure of star defender Chris Pinder leaves a noticeable gap, while an ACL injury to rising talent Jacob Serle is another setback they’ll need to manage until his return.

Despite these losses, Oakdale’s roster runs deep, with attacking power that rivals the best in the competition. Shooting veteran, Edmead led the charge in 2024, supported by fellow sharpshooter in Goggins, crafty midcourter, Giaretto and emerging star, Gulin.

All eyes will be on Gulin in 2025. Recently named to the 17 & Under Australian team, this young talent has the potential to be a game-changer. If he can continue to build strong connections with Giaretto and Edmead, Oakdale’s attack end will be a nightmare for any opposition to contain.

SOUTH ADELAIDE NETBALL CLUB
What a year 2024 was for South Adelaide, clinching both the inaugural Super League Championship and an M-League premiership! Now, this powerhouse squad is eyeing back-to-back titles in 2025.

Key players like Wood, Fowler, and Turtur will need to deliver consistently to ease the load on 2024 MVP, Norfolk, who proved that size is no obstacle, dominating the competition week after week.

Going back-to-back is never easy, but with an unchanged roster that has continued to grow and develop during the off-season, South Adelaide knows that anything is possible.

TANGO NETBALL CLUB

The departure of 2024 Club MVP, Wells leaves a gap that Tango will need to fill, but it also opens the door for others to step up. Humphris showcased his potential during SL24, delivering sharp shooting and high energy. His consistency will be crucial to the club’s success in 2025.

McKay’s breakout season in 2024 was a joy to watch. His leadership and ability to win key possessions will be essential as Tango pushes for a stronger campaign. The addition of fresh young talent also brings excitement and new possibilities for the group as they chase success in 2025.

Tango came agonisingly close in several matches last season, including a narrow 3-goal loss to the 2024 champions, South Adelaide. Could 2025 be the year of the Black and Pink? With the right momentum, Tango just might rise up the ladder and get on the winning side.
